SWIDAP

Since 1955 a civil war has been waged in the Sudan. It is one of the longest and most brutal wars in the history of armed conflict in Africa, the dire results of which have been exceeded only by few martial conflicts.

The collapse of social structures resulting from the conflict has led to atrocious consequences for the weakest links in the society - women and children, particularly in the socially disadvantaged south.

Founded in 1999 in the Sudan the organization “Sudan Women in Development and Peace” (SWIDAP) fights social disadvantage and employs itself effectively in the provision for schools in the Sudanese communities.

Especially in the southern communities of the Sudan – controlled by rebels - neither health-care nor school-education can be guaranteed.

Other targets of this honorary self-help-organization are a lasting peace far away from the commotion of the civil war, the establishment of womens and human rights, as well as an extensively positive social development.

“Our vision for Sudan is to help build a tranquil, literate, civilized and strong economic nation, conducive and prosperous enough for habitation by the existent and future generations of the Nation.”
